Focus on the natural world
An Australian photographer with four decades behind
the camera, I have spent countless hours viewing
the natural world through my lenses.
A former journalist, I developed an appreciation for observation, patience and storytelling — qualities
that continue to shape my photography.
My work focuses primarily on wildlife, particularly
birds, as well as landscapes, plants and
the quieter details of the natural environment.
I've carried my camera during extensive
travels in Latin America, Europe and the Pacific.
I have a particularly strong connection with
Latin America, having lived in rural Colombia
for more than a decade. Living so closely with the
landscape and wildlife of Colombia provided an extraordinary opportunity to observe nature.
Whether photographing a bird in its natural
habitat, a dramatic landscape or the intricate
beauty of a plant, I aim to create images that
capture both the character of the subject and the
sense of place in which it was found.
After decades of photography, I remain fascinated
by the simple challenge that first drew
me to the camera: being in the right place,
watching carefully in a bid to capture the moment.
