A former journalist, I developed an appreciation
for observation, patience and storytelling — qualities that continue to shape my photography today.
My work focuses primarily on wildlife, particularly
birds, as well as landscapes, plants and the quieter
details of the natural envirionment.
I've carried my camera across the world,
including extensive travel in Latin America, Europe,
Britain and the Pacific. I have a particularly strong
connection with Latin America, having lived in
rural Colombia for more than a decade. Living so
closely with the landscape and wildlife of Colombia
provided an extraordinary opportunity to observe nature
at its most diverse and intimate.Whether photographing
a bird in its natural habitat, a dramatic
landscape or the intricate beauty of a plant,
I aim to create images that capture both the character
of the subject and the sense of place in which it was found. After decades of photography, I remain fascinated
by the simple challenge that first drew me to the
camera: being in the right place, watching
carefully, and capturing a moment that might
otherwise go unnoticed.
